Obama 'like Romans who destroyed Jewish Temples'

Here is an interesting comparison of President Barak Hussein Obama's to General Titus' policies. Titus went on to become emperor. Do the comparisons stop with this or do they extrapolate into the coming political future?

SBC '09 with Pictures

The Southern Baptist Convention (SBC)meeting in Louisville is now over. It was a well attended event with over 8,700 messengers present. There was good preaching during the Pastor's conference as well as good messages presented during the meeting itself.

Morris Chapman gave a polarizing and divisive address as Executive Committee Chairman. He insuated that those who hold to the doctrines of grace are to blame for any perceived decline in the stature of the SBC. On a bright note, SBC President Johnny Hunt gave a wonderful message that pointedly showed that the permeation of "self" into the church is the real culprit. He said we have a "vision" problem.

That said, the Great Commission Resurgence resolution and resultant task force took center stage by passing the floor easily. Time will tell if the restructuring point (axiom IX) will overshadow the more pertinent points of the resolution that actually deal with the Great Commission. It will be a litmus test to see if the positive tone of this meeting can carry over to Orlando in 2010. I suspect the other nine points will merely serve as introduction to mass-advertising meant to sway the masses to be in favor of the task force recommendations.

Below are some pictures taken during the meetings. The first two are of an artist and his painting. He did this portrait of Jesus in three minutes in the interesting medium of finger paint.

The final two pictures are of the meeting hall, before and after the arrival of the messengers.

The Great Commission Resurgence Resolution or The Emperor Has No Clothes

The Southern Baptist Convention will be holding its annual meeting this coming week in Louisville, Kentucky. One of the hot topics, if judged by the conversations in the blogosphere, will be a resolution urging a resurgence in the Great Commission. Here is the Great Commission as stated in Matthew 28:19-20:

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

I have voiced my opinion in the comment section of two forums drawing a charge of spam on one of them (to that poster, here is the "hand").

The document that is supposed to be the proposed resolution on the Great Commission gives me some concern. To me, it is a front.

“How so?” you may ask.

While the men who drafted the GCR may indeed have the best of intentions from their own perspective, it comes across as being a ploy for power grab.

“Oh, no! You didn’t just say that?” many of you are now saying.

If it is about the Great Commission then points 1-8 and 10 are indeed well stated. Point 9, the restructure clause, is obviously not even of the same genre. Its like plopping a sub-plot from Tom Clancy into a JRR Tolkien novel complete with modern day technology right into Middle Earth.

I suspect that the real issue here IS point 9 — or Axiom IX if you will. The whole document seems to be about point 9 in the ongoing conversations. I submit that points 1-8 and 10 are merely ploys to sugar coat and distract from the real purpose — get a mandate from the convention to restructure.

No Baptist would dare vote against the Great Commission would they? The elites who are pushing this know that point 9 by itself does not have support enough to get out of committee. But they are also astute enough to know that the SBC as a whole holds high regard for biblical inerrency. Therefore, perceiving this as SBC gullibility, they have (in my not so humble opinion) concocted the GCR as a vehicle to move their own plans forward among the unawares.

The GCR is a prop. It will probably pass. And if it does, then that is the last you will hear of points 1-8 and 10. It then becomes all about “Axiom IX”.
